St Joseph’s, Bridgwater Trips Year 3 have been learning all about Egyptian symbols and hieroglyphics, made our own scrolls out of papyrus paper and found out why the Rosetta Stone is so important. They went to Bristol Museum and were able to see and sketch amazing artefacts including mummies, amulets and tablets, and learn more about life for the ancient Egyptians. We were even lucky enough to see a photograph of the Rosetta Stone! In the afternoon we had an Egyptian artefact workshop. We looked at lots of different artefacts to see if we could work out what they were and what they were used for. We even imagined that the River Avon was the River Nile! Year 5 visited Somerset Cricket Ground and were lucky enough to watch England Ladies A v’s India Ladies A. We didn’t get to watch the whole match but England were batting well. Unfortunately, just before we left England lost a key batter for 97 runs! Year 6 enjoyed a 3-day residential to London. With a jampacked itinerary the children embarked on this adventure with clean clothes and plenty of sleep. They returned with dirty clothes and extremely tired! For some this was the first experience of staying away from home and visiting the capital. Highlights included the Natural History Museum, The London Eye, St Paul’s Cathedral, watching Wicked and visiting the Globe Theatre.
